Last day for public comment on the BATFE rifle registration scheme

Today is the last day for comments on the BATFE “emergency information collection action” which they intend to use to begin registering “certain rifles” at the point of sale.

If you haven’t already commented on the plan, we have some suggested comments here.

Please take the time to express your opposition to this proposal before January 5th, 2011.

Nat’l Review slams Traver

“Agent Traver, at that time in charge of the ATF’s Chicago office, made exaggerated claims about the nature and prevalence of the “assault weapons” used by criminals in Chicago, and then, for the benefit of all those voters out there in TV-land, armed an NBC reporter with a machine gun — a fully automatic AK-47, to be exact — and watched as she fecklessly sprayed bullets about for the camera, missing everything she aimed at.”

H/T To Snowflakes in Hell.  33 US House members (so far) sent letters to BATFE telling them to back off.

MT Senators Baucus & Tester also weigh in.

This is a good start and…  There will be more to come.
